Each year the skies above Canowindra come alive with the roar of the burners and the visual spectacular provided when mass hot air balloons take flight in competition and fiesta flying. The wide-open spaces, ideal weather conditions and friendly local people make this an ideal area for hot air ballooning. Canowindra became world-famous in 1955 when a 360 million-year-old fossil was found! The region boasts an abundance of fresh food and unique wine which will be showcased when we visit the Night Market and Balloon Glow, the highlight of the event where the balloons light up their burners in the dark to music.
Staying in at the Sovereign Inn Cowra during your tour, you will also visit Age of Fishes Museum, Bushranger History guided tour and the town of Boorowa.
Don’t forget your camera to capture all the stunning balloons. Bring along warm clothing for a possible chilly Canowindra evening during the Balloon Glow.
Please note: All spectators are reminded that hot air ballooning is completely weather dependent. Events may be delayed or cancelled if the conditions are unsafe for flying.
