Date: Tuesday 7 April 2020

Journey west of Nowra and climb the mountain to the tiny villages of Sassafras and Nerriga. Our first stop is Sassafras Nuts, an orchard established in the 1980s as an experimental farm for chestnut growing. Your visit will include morning tea provided by Kiama Scenic Tours at the onsite picnic facilities, followed by a tasting of Chestnuts as part of a Chestnut roasting demonstration, talk about growing and using chestnuts, an opportunity to pick & purchase and a history of the farm including production & marketing arrangements.

We will then go on to Nerriga for lunch at the local pub, which was established in the mid 1800’s!

We’ll also have time to look through the local Nerriga Museum.
